I have laughed more on this course than I have in the past year! -Linda
The Course:
This multi-day mountaineering course is an excellent way to begin learning the basic skills necessary to safely climb in the mountains. On this course you will develop strong expeditionary skills, learn to use an ice ax for snow travel, learn and practice self arrest skills and have a whole lot of fun! This year we will be climbing Mt. Daniel, in Washington. This peak is situated in the heart of the Central Washington Cascades providing unparalleled views of Mt. Rainier, the Mount Stuart Range and the remote volcano, Glacier Peak.
The Route:
The route ascends up through Cathedral Pass to where we will camp at reflective Peggy’s Pond. After some great back country cooking and some alpine skills instruction we will celebrate the peace and rest of nature. We will then climb the Southeast Ridge up to the summit of Daniel. We will then take advantage of the abundance of snow and practice our snow skills as we slide down the slopes back to base camp.
Deep Community:
If your soul has become clouded with the stresses of life, come away with us and find space to be recharged. We call this a “Sabbath” experience. Come become a part of a deep community and experience spiritual renewal as the urban life is left behind and we are humbled in the presence of God. We invite you to join as an individual or share the experience with friends, family or co-workers.
This course will take place in September, 2012.
