Academy Leadership Expedition July 9 - July 16 Registration Closed

The Mission

We are looking for nine student leaders across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to participate in an eight-day wilderness expedition. You will spend three days rock climbing and five days mountaineering with the goal of summiting a major Oregon peak. You will enjoy building relationships with students from other Adventist academies and experiencing spiritual renewal. This course will push you out of your comfort zone and challenge you to become a more dynamic leader.

1-3 Sophomores and Juniors eligible from each NPUC Academy

Instructors

Your instructors are certified TRSM by the American Mountain Guides of America (AMGA). They also hold credentials as Wilderness First Responders by the Wilderness Medical Institute. Your head instructor and executive director, Les Zollbrecht, is an ordained Adventist pastor, teacher, and former Associate Director of Big Lake Youth Camp.

How it Works

The Don Keele Excellence in Education Award and private donors have provided the funding for nine students attending NPUC academies to participate in this course. This funding covers the tuition fee of $700. MLI provides essential supplies including food, transportation, technical equipment and camping gear. Students will be responsible for personal items such as hiking boots, a sleeping bag, and appropriate clothing. Upon acceptance, students will receive a complete packing list. Although no previous outdoor experience is necessary, good physical conditioning is recommended. Participants may be asked to share their experience in writing or by presenting to their school or church.
