Basic Oregon Cascades Course: July 31-August 7
With highly experienced instructors and a classroom of some of the most spectacular scenery in the Northwest, the Central Cascades course will give you a taste of fantastic alpine climbing as well as superb rock climbing. You will begin in the desert, move through dense forests and traverse large lava flows and snow fields as you navigate toward one of the highest peaks in the state. Along the way you will be given fundamental skills of snow travel, backcountry safety and alpine mountaineering.
After four days in the alpine area of the Three Sisters, you will then travel to the world-renowned Smith Rocks where your adventure will continue in the vertical world of rock. Here you will hone your skills in knots, anchors, protection placements, belay safety and increase your confidence and abilities through personal coaching.
As you complete this course you will take home new skills, a solid leadership foundation and a renewed passion for the outdoors.
